Linda was born in Dayton Ohio, the middle of five children. Her mother stayed home with the children, and Linda credits her with all of her children’s love of art, dance, books, and music. Her father was an employee of the National Cash Register who encouraged all of his children to become active in sports. He specialized in tennis, swimming, track, and baseball and taught Linda and her sisters and brothers these sports.

Linda’s mother Louise encouraged Linda and her brother and sisters to become educators. Her mother was also a teacher. The kids favorite game growing up was “Teacher.” (L-R: standing: Linda E. Linda was very active in high school. She was a majorette (2nd from R) with the high school band and a cheerleader. She also was a statewide ranked tennis player and earned a partial tennis scholarship for college. Linda also had a perfect attendance record-never being tardy or missing a day of school for four years. She would top this by never taking a sick day in 34 years from the Clark County School District.

Linda received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Dayton in the Teaching Fields of English, Spanish, and Speech. She got her first job as a teacher at Roth High School, not far from where she grew up.

Not only did Linda teach English, Spanish and Speech, she was the faculty advisor to the “Roth Record,” the school newspaper and “The Falcon,” the yearbook!

After teaching in the Dayton Public School system, Linda received her Masters Degree in School Psychology from University of Dayton. She was also a writer and reporter for the Dayton, Express. Linda and her husband (not shown in the picture) decided to move west, living in Colorado for a few years before finally making her home in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Moving west to work in the Clark County School District, Linda enjoyed all that growing area had to offer. She enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and nature walks.

In 1996, Linda was chosen by the U.S. Olympic Committee to be an Olympic Torch Relay runner because of her outstanding contributions to her community.

In addition to her work as Director of the Equity & Diversity Education Department Student Support Services Division in the Clark County School District, Linda has served as a consultant to many local and national organizations, including the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy for Self Study and the Southern Nevada Mental Health and Retardation State Advisory Board of Directors. She is currently serving as the National 1st Vice President and on the Board of Directors of the National Council on Educating Black Children.
