COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
For the past 32 years, Linda Young has been involved in our community, working with schools, our neighbors and her church. Some of her community involvement includes:
- Northwest Area Residents Association, Founder, President, and Board Member from 1994 to Present.
- Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, National Chapter, Golden Life Member, 1965‑Present.
- St. James Catholic Church, 1976-Present.
- Habitat for Humanity, 1991‑Present.
- Las Vegas Alliance of Black School Educators, Inc., Member from 1981 - Present; President 1991‑94.
- NAACP Member and Board of Director and Education Chairperson 1979-82. Current Member
- Northwest Master Plan Committee, 1998 -2004
- Citizen Advisor; Committee Member, Appointed by Mayor Oscar Goodman, Clark County Flood Committee 2002- Present.
- Sierra Club of Nevada, Toiyabe Chapter, 2000- Present
- City of Las Vegas, Ethics Review Commissioner, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002.
- Urban League Current Member
Throughout her life Linda Young has devoted much of her time to improving education and opportunities for our community’s youth. Her commitment includes:
- National Association for Educational Equity.
- Anti-Defamation League.
- Council for Exceptional Children (National Membership Committee, 1980‑Present).
- Las Vegas Alliance of Black School Educators, Inc. (Served as President, 1991‑1994).
- National Alliance of Black School Educators (Life Member, National Chairperson of Resolution Committee).
- Phi Delta Kappa.
- National Association of Secondary School Administrators.
- Clark County Association of School Administrators.
- Nevada Association of School Administrators.
- National Association of School Psychologists.
- National School Psychology Association.
Linda Young’s involvement goes far beyond membership. She rolls up her sleeves and tackles problems head on. Some examples of Linda’s decades of service include:
- Developed numerous in service training workshops for at-risk, special, and cultural diverse students for educational, community, and business organizations, (1979‑ Present).

- Clark County School District Certificate of Achievement, Perfect Work Attendance - 30 Years, (1976-2000, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)
